Lyrics:
[hide]
Every morning I wake up with a smile on my face.
I embrace the day for what it is and not what it probably won't be.
But that's how I function, that's how I escape the true reality of what my feelings portray,
A smile on my face.
Nothing more than a subliminal tattoo to hide feelings u deem as weak,
but wait,
Maybe you discriminate whilst feeling the same
because weakness is only contained by the same ones that hate.
It just shows the fact you have something bottled inside,
so you look for a way and you try to make yourself feel sane.
Kicking those already down in an attempt to pick yourself up,
shaking off all the rubble you once landed upon
with no intentions to hurt others but it must be a must
because how we feel ourselves is important to us.
Selfish.. It's true, It's true,
Some may call it wrong but right now life repeats it's like a chorus in a song,
playing over and over yet you still get the lyrics wrong,
if life was my friend then why are we not getting along.
A smile on my face,
there's not enough minutes in the day,
there's not enough primary colors here that could take these blues away
and even though I try i somehow still fail, I pray,
that this smile on my face would never change.
A smile on my face.
It has you tricked but what you don't (know) is what this smile contains,
Pain, Hate, Jealousy & Anguish,
Those same feelings and emotions that gave my facial expression a language.
The only exit I have to avoid exposing that character in this shell,
I don't want to be you, I don't even want to be him... I just want to be myself.
A smile on my face,
My only escape. I'm hanging off the edge in need of a harness,
For if I fall I give them a target..
You ask me.. If I drop my smile then what would be my fear in it?
I give an answer consisting of two words and two words alone.. Past experience.
Too many times have I had my wounds re-opened
for which I still blame myself for sharing them emotions.
It's hard.
Even though you see a smile on my face,
You don't see the tears that flood my heart.
A smile on my face.
